Remaining wet and windy conditions will soon clear to the southeast of the country this morning, and a cool but bright day will follow, with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers. Showers will tend to be heaviest across the western half of the country, turning occasionally wintry on higher ground in northwest Ulster, with eastern counties seeing longer drier periods.
Feeling cooler than of late, with afternoon highs of 5 to 8 degrees in moderate to fresh and gusty westerly winds.
Tonight
Tonight will start cold and clear in many parts of the country, with showers retreating to the west and north. Temperatures will fall to between 3 and 7 degrees for a time, but increasing cloud later in the night, will bring a rise in temperatures and patchy outbreaks of rain and drizzle in off the Atlantic.
Winds will continue moderate to fresh and gusty westerly.
