RTE's top broadcasters are set to face more pay cuts, according to the station's Director General.
Some of the station's high earners have already taken a 30% pay cut.
However, Noel Curran said he will be looking for up to 40% pay cuts when contracts are reviewed.
Mr Curran was speaking to journalists after he gave an address to students at the Faculty of Journalism at the University of Limerick.
Figures published last month show that Ryan Tubridy is now earning €495,000, which RTE says is a 32% reduction on what he was earning in 2011.
Marian Finucane earns €295,000 - a 48% fall on her highest deal in 2008.
Miriam O'Callaghan is now earning €211,167, a drop of of 36pc against her highest earnings which were in 2010.
Noel Curran says he's aware of public concern at RTE's high salaries.
