Police are investigating alleged racist comments made against footballer Ashley Cole on Twitter.

They’re believed to have been posted by someone from Derbyshire, and re-tweeted by Rio Ferdinand.

The words were put online after Cole’s Chelsea team-mate John Terry was cleared by a court of racially abusing Rio’s brother Anton Ferdinand.
