The Health Minister says there's been a drop in the level of people admitted to hospital from COVID-19.

The number of people in hospitals has fallen to only 16% of cases, while 2.3% are in intensive care units.

New figures show another 41 people have died from coronavirus in the Republic, bringing the death toll to 571.

630 new cases of the disease have been confirmed here, along with another 148 cases from a German lab.

Donald Trump has questioned whether China started the coronavirus pandemic deliberately.

At the daily White House briefing, the US president said Chinese authorities failed to stop the crisis “before it started” adding that “the whole world is suffering from it.”

Meanwhile, Australia is demanding an international investigation into the origins of coronavirus and how it spread.

The country's foreign minister has told Australian TV she has concerns about China's transparency.

Retailers have recorded a 58% increase in the volume of alcohol sales week on week this week, compared to this time last year.

Increases of between 22% and 30% have been reported in earlier weeks of the COVID-19 restrictions.

It comes as a study in the UK found 20% of people say they're drinking more since the COVID-19 lockdown began.

Eunan McKinney, of Alcohol Action Ireland, says since the pubs closed it was inevitable there would be some increased buying but 58% is higher than expected.

Over 100 artists performed songs in the virtual benefit concert organised by the Global Citizen movement of the WHO and curated by Lady Gaga.

The One World: Together At Home event, hosted by US talk show hosts Jimmy Fallon, Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel, also included real-life stories from medical staff on the front line of the coronavirus pandemic.

A lucky lotto winner is waking up a multi-millionaire this morning after last night's jackpot of over 9.5 million euro was won by a single ticket.

The National Lottery has not yet confirmed where the ticket was bought.

They're advising the winner to contact them by phone firstly tomorrow because of the ongoing coronavirus restrictions.

Last night's numbers were 4, 9, 15, 27, 29 and 34. The bonus was 17.
