John Delaney has stepped down as executive vice-president of the FAI.
The board of the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) made the announcement late last night.
Mr Delaney became embroiled in controversy over concerns about corporate governance within the organisation and a bridging loan he allegedly gave the association two years ago.

Gardaí in Dublin have seized 5.6 kilos of cannabis herb with an estimated street value of €110,000.
It is after members attached to the Special Crime Task Force and the Ballymun District Drugs Unit intercepted two men on a motorcycle on waste ground in an area known locally as 'Seven Pitches' in the Ballymun area yesterday.
The two aged 19 and 20 were arrested and are being detained at Ballymun Garda station.

Elon Musk has unveiled a new spacecraft, designed to carry cargo and crew to the moon and Mars.
The head of SpaceX says he hopes to start trialling the rocket, by going into orbit later this year.
