They met to discuss the new contract, which was proposed as part of last month's Labour Court ruling aimed at avoiding further strikes.
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) said that the proposals don't fulfil the requirements of the Labour Court recommendation.
They suggested the proposed new contract would make the recruitment and retention problems even worse.
