The majority of Garda Stations around the country recorded one crime or less per day last year.

That’s according to the latest crime statistics from the CSO.

Of the 704 Garda Stations, 80 per cent recorded one crime or less per day last year and 41 per cent recorded one crime or less per week.

Store Street station in Dublin is the busiest Garda Station -with 8,510 crimes recorded there in 2011.

The news comes after the Government closed 39 Garda Stations around the country, so far, this year – with the Justice Minister saying he’s decided to close more in the future.
