Reports from Brazil say 800 people were packed into the nightclub at the centre of the weekend inferno.

More than 230 died in the blaze - thought to have been started by a pyrotechnics display.

Most choked on toxic smoke. 

It happened in the southern university city of Santa Maria. The club had just one working fire exit.

It's understood many died because the one fire exit was partly blocked by those who were already dead.
