The mother of a Donegal woman killed in India has spoken of her frustration at not being able to view the trial of the man accused of the murder.
28-year-old Danielle McLaughlin was killed in March 2017.
Her body was found on an isolated stretch of open field between Agonda and Canacona beaches in south Goa, India.
A local man named Vikat Bhagat was later charged with her murder, which he denies.
Danielle had both Irish and British citizenship, and had been travelling on her UK passport.
Her family has in the past claimed they've been "abandoned" by the Irish government when it comes to supports.
Meanwhile, the murder trial is underway in India - but it has faced numerous delays, compounded by the COVID crisis.
The trial is due to get back underway next week after a recent bail hearing, but Andrea and the family have been unable to travel over to India due to COVID-19.
On Newstalk Breakfast, Andrea said the whole process is now dragging on for years - with just nine of 59 witnesses called so far.
She said: “It’s taking longer because of COVID - it’s on for 30 minutes maximum, once or twice a month.
“I would like to view the court case… I don’t know what it looks like. A few people, Irish people and Americans, have gone to the court and told me what’s going on… that’s how I knew what’s happening.
Andrea said she has now asked "numerous times" whether she could view the trial by video link, but the request has been turned down.
She noted: "I’ve even said I would view it in a courtroom or Garda station, so it wouldn’t be passed on to anyone else. I’ve always been told no.”
Andrea said she's surprised by how little support she has received from the Irish Government and Embassy in India.
She said: “Even regarding the bail hearing, I didn’t hear that was on a Wednesday… they didn’t contact to tell me until Thursday evening."
