A man has been seriously injured in a crash in County Longford.

It happened on Monday at around six in the evening on the L1127 at Mullaghvorneen and involved a car and a motorbike.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, was airlifted to the Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore.

He was later transferred to the Mater Hospital in Dublin.

A technical examination of the scene was carried out and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
