A man has died a road crash involving a car and a motorbike in County Cork.

Gardaí said the crash happened at Lough Beg, Ringaskiddy at around 8pm this evening.

The man, aged in his mid-40s, was riding a motorcycle that collided with a car.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, where his body remains.

His remains are due to be removed to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem will be carried out.

The driver of the car was not injured.

The stretch of road is currently closed while Gardaí carry out a forensic investigation.

Investigators are calling for witnesses to contact them.
