A man aged in his 40s has died in a collision in Co. Monaghan this afternoon.

The driver of the motorcycle was fatally injured in a crash involving an SUV on the N2 at Broomfield, Castleblaney at around 1:30pm.

He was pronounced dead at scene and his body was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes hospital Drogheda.

The road at the scene is closed to facilitate forensic collision investigators.
