Marks and Spencer says there are no other job opportunities in the company for 180 staff being let go from four shops that are closing today.
Staff at M&S stores in Dun Laoghaire, Mullingar, Naas and Tallaght have lost their jobs from today, as the shops have now stopped trading.
But workers from the four stores are threatening industrial action over the redundancies.
Talks between the two sides broke down on Thursday at the Labour Relations Commission.
In a statement, Marks and Spencers says there are no redeployment opportunities for the workers and this has been explained to the unions.
