A murder inquiry is underway following the death of 31-year-old Paula Canty, whose body was found in Mallow in County Cork earlier this week.

Gardaí have not yet released details of a post-mortem examination, but it is understood the young mother-of-two suffered stab wounds at her apartment on Bridewell Lane.

Tributes have flooded social media for Ms Canty, who was a native of Kinsale, and moved to Mallow within the past year.

Gardaí have been conducting door-to-door inquiries in the area where she lived and are also checking CCTV footage.

An incident room has been set up at Mallow Garda Station and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to get in touch.
