A murder investigation has been launched after the death of a woman in Co Offaly.
Gardaí have said they are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death of the woman in her 40s.
A teenage boy was arrested earlier following what Gardaí described as a "violent incident" at a house in a rural area outside Tullamore on Friday afternoon.
He is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at a Garda station in the Midlands.
Officers and emergency services responded to reports of a violent incident at around 1pm, when the body of the woman was discovered in the property.
Gardaí have said the boy is known to the woman and they are not looking for any other persons in connection with this incident.
The scene is currently preserved pending forensic and technical examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.
The Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been informed.
Social media images
Gardaí have said images from this incident have appeared on social media and messaging apps.
They are appealing to people not to circulate or share them.
"An Garda Síochána is aware that images from this incident are circulating on social media and messaging apps and An Garda Síochána is appealing to any person who receives these images not to share the content," the force said in a statement.
A Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed and an incident room has been set up at Tullamore Garda station.
A Family Liaison Officer has also been appointed in the case.
