Gardai believe a burnt out car, which was found in nearby Collinstown Crescent was used in the shooting.
Superintendent David Taylor has this description of the car:
Detectives say the victim was local and was known to Gardai but are awaiting the results of a post mortem before an official identification will be made
Several witnesses have already come forward with some saying they saw three men getting out of the Vauxhall Vectra before it was found burnt out.
