Gardai have launched a murder investigation following the death of a woman in county Mayo yesterday.

28 year old Sarah Staunton was found dead at a house near Mayo Abbey yesterday afternoon.

A post mortem examination was carried out at Mayo General Hospital earlier today.

A man -in his early 20’s - who was arrested last night remains in custody at Castlebar Garda Station this evening.
