The jury in the trial of a man accused of murdering a father of five in north-west Dublin has heard how the victim's body was set alight.

Michael Kinsella of Swiftbrook Close in Tallaght denies killing Adel Essalhi in Tyrrelstown just over three years ago.

On January 6th 2011 Mr. Essalhi had been drinking at a pub on Parnell Street when he met a man called Wayne Kinsella and his girlfriend.

After spending several hours together, they went back to the couple's apartment at the Tyrrelstown Plaza for a party.

Several others - included Wayne's nephew Michael - were also there.

The prosecution believes Mr. Essalhi was lured from the apartment after the Kinsella's got it into their heads he was involved in the death of a relative.

The victim's body was found in a field behind the apartment complex two days later.

A post mortem revealed he had been beaten and stabbed to death. A machete, believed to be one of two murder weapons, was found hear his body.

It is alleged the men returned to the scene the day after the murder, and that Michael tried to dispose of the body by burning it with petrol.
