A woman who died after being found unconscious at an apartment in north inner-city Dublin suffered some sort of blow to the head.

That is according to the Deputy State Pathologist who has been given evidence in the trial of her boyfriend who is accused of murdering her.

It took well over an hour for Dr. Khalid Jaber to outline how Mary Ryan died on May 19th in 2012.

That morning she was found unconscious in an apartment on Sherrard Street which she shared with her Polish boyfriend. She died in hospital a short time later.

At the time Waldamar Solowiow told gardai that she had been beaten by a gang of three men the night before. He said he managed to fight them off and carry her to safety - but he was later charged and is now standing trial for her murder.

In his evidence Dr. Jaber told the court that she died from a blow to the head and pressure being applied to her neck. Earlier in the trial the jury of eight men and four women heard how the couple drank heavily and regularly argued.

The case continues before Mr. Justice Patrick McCarthy at the Central Criminal Court.
