Sir George Martin, who signed The Beatles in 1962, has passed away at the age of 90.
In a career that spanned six decades, Martin produced over 700 records, racking up 30 number ones across the United Kingdom and the United States as well as 17 chart-topping records with The Beatles.
A statement issued by C A Management, which represented Martin, described him as "one of music's most creative talents" who "helped revolutionise the art of popular music recording", sentiments which were echoed by a number of people who took to Twitter and social media to pay tribute to the late producer.
The tributes were lead by Ringo Starr, who confirmed the news on Twitter, and thanked Martin for all his "love and kindness".

The BBC shared an interview from their archives in which John Lennon described Martin's influence, stating that "he had a very great musical knowledge and background, so he could translate for us and suggest things".
