Elon Musk has announced he will likely soon charge people to use the social media platform Twitter, officially known as X.
The billionaire bought Twitter for $44 billion last year and introduced a number of sweeping changes.
The blue tick system to verify prominent users was binned and replaced with a premium subscription service where people pay €9.84 a month for an account that includes the marker.
In a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Mr Musk talked about his desire to crack down on fake accounts.

"We're moving to having a small monthly payment for use of the system," he said.
He added it would be the platform’s “only defence against vast armies of bots.”
