A group of TDs has turned down calls to submit a song from 'Father Ted' for the next Eurovision.

The Oireachtas petitions committee says it can't force RTÉ to submit 'My Lovely Horse' as Ireland's entry for the contest in 2015.

A member of the public sent in a petition demanding that the song - made famous in the Eurosong episode of the TV series - be sent as Ireland's entry to the real competition.

Committee chairman Padraig Mac Lochlainn said the committee "didn't have the musical expertise" it needed to consider the issue.
