A small, mysterious creature found recently in a tin of tuna has been identified.

The small brown animal with beady black eyes was found by a woman in Nottingham, who shared a photo on Twitter, and quickly sent to experts to determine its origin.

Today the Nottingham Post reports that it was a megalopa - an immature crab which is preyed upon by tuna.

The creature was not deemed to be a health and safety risk.
