The N3 into Dublin has been closed after a fatal incident near Blanchardstown this morning.
It happened at around 10:50am this morning.
Gardaí are at the scene and expect the inbound lanes to be closed for a number of hours while they carry out an examination.
Local diversions have been put in place and drivers have been advised to avoid the area.
The number of people killed in the incident has not yet been confirmed but it will bring the fatalities on Irish roads to at least 156.
It means more people have now died on Irish roads this year than in the whole of last year.
Transport Minister of State Jack Chambers has promised a new bill to improve road safety will be “accelerated” through the Oireachtas to tackle the “absolutely shocking” trend.
