Over 800 national school teachers are gathering in Wexford today for their annual conference.

This year the three day event will focus on the pay equalisation for new teachers.

Into General Secretary Shelia Nunan says it's wrong to have people doing the same job on different levels of pay

She described the pay cuts for new teachers as completely wrong

"Teachers did make huge sacrifices," she sadded.

"They're very ambitious for their students they want to make sure that the damage done is repaired. They want to make sure schools are as inclusive a possible, for those with special needs and other children."
