Almost 40% of us think it is acceptable to allow a child under 18 years of age to drink alcohol.
That is just one of the findings of the latest Newstalk Nation survey which looked at attitudes to children.
When asked if they think they are a good parent the majority of respondents or 70% believe they are.
Almost 800 people took part in the study.
13% also say they will have less children due to the recession.
While nearly half believe it is sometimes acceptable to slap a child with 46% admitting they have done so.
