Ever find yourself running around like a headless chicken looking for your phone if it’s on silent and you’re in a hurry out the door?
Have you had your iPhone stolen, misplaced or lost? Then look no further.
Many Apple users don’t know that there is a free app called ‘Find My iPhone.’
The app allows owners of iPhones, Macs and iPads to locate their device over GPS by logging onto href="https://www.icloud.com/">https://www.icloud.com/ from another device.
So for example, say you have left your iPhone at the supermarket and it has been handed into customer services – once you have logged into iCloud online you can see the exact location of the device send your phone a text message saying you will be there to collect your phone in an hour. The phone will play a sound until the message is read.
If your phone has been lost or stolen and a text message with a contact number for you has not been returned, you can wipe your phone manually on iCloud for peace of mind. If the phone is eventually retrieved you can restore your deleted data from iCloud or your most recent PC backup.
(Not everyone has an Apple device and there are similar apps for Android and other smartphone users.)
