The number of new cars licensed for the first time increased by 29% last month when compared with February of last year.
Almost 35,500 cars were licensed for the year up to the end of February, marking an increase of 27.3% over 2014 figures for the same period.
More than 15,000 new cars were licensed last month alone.

For private cars licensed in February, the most popular makes were Volkswagen (2,389 cars), Nissan (1,701), Ford (1,640) and Toyota (1,615).
