The Food Safety Authority will outline the new requirements at a seminar in Dublin later.
Under the new rules, descriptions on packaging will have to be written in a certain font size - to ensure they're legible - and outlining the product's nutritional values will now be mandatory.
The country of origin must also be higlighted on all packaging and loose food items will have to be labelled too.
