€10 million is to be invested in the GE healthcare facility in Co. Cork.
It is expected it will see the creation of around 50 new jobs at the plant in Carrigtwohill.
The Cork plant won out ahead of GE Healthcare operations in Oslo and Shanghai for the investment.
The new production suite should see the current workforce of 450 expanded to 500.
Paschal McCarthy is Managing Director for the Global Supply Chain at GE Healthcare.
“Today’s announcement is a major confidence boost for our site and an endorsement of our people and the manufacturing facility” he said.
The announcement also as the Carrigtwohill site prepares to celebrate 20 years in Cork.
It was established in 1992 by global pharmaceutical manufacturer Nycomed before GE Healthcare took over the organisation in 2004.
It exports products to around 70 markets globally.
