The Taoiseach says corrupt politicians could be excluded from seeking office for up to 10 years under new laws being worked on by the government.

Enda Kenny last night told the MacGill Summer School in Glenties that the days of politicians “getting away with it” were over.

He said the Justice Minister is planning new legislation with provisions for the conviction of TDs, Ministers and Civil Servants.

He said the legislation will no longer allow for corrupt politicians to be re-elected to the Dáil.

Newstalk’s Shona Murray is at the Summer School in Donegal.

She outlined the proposals to Breakfast.
