The Government is to unveil a redesigned Irish passport featuring enhanced security features.
The new passport will contain security features such as holograms or motifs on individual pages.
These will include recognisable locations such as the Cliffs of Moher, Rock of Cashel, the Aviva stadium and Samuel Beckett Bridge.
The cost of producing each passport is just €7, half the current cost, but it's unclear if the estimated €4 million in savings will be passed on to those getting new passports.
The new look passports are set to be launched next Monday September 30th.
The standard passport application fee is currently €80, a sum that remains unchanged on the Department of Foreign Affairs website.
