A new report is to be launched later calling for greater oversight of Ireland's Direct Provision system.
It follows a series of public hearings by the Public Service Oversight Committee and meetings with families, management and staff in the four centres across the country.
The report, which is being described as 'ground-breaking,' will recommend that the remit of the Ombudsman be extended to cover all aspects associated with the Direct Provision system.
4,360 people currently live in Direct Provision in Ireland, with about one-third of those children.
