Netflix has confirmed that the second season of it’s hugely popular series ‘Wednesday’ will be filmed in Ireland.
Filming of the series featuring Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Adams is “tentatively slated for April”.
‘Wednesday’ remains by far the most popular English language TV series on Netflix – pulling in more than 252,000,000 views in its first season.
The first season was shot in Romania – with the featured locations later becoming tourist attractions for the show’s many fans.
The location presented logistical challenges for the production, however, with reports soon emerging of plans to move to show elsewhere for any follow-up seasons.
The decision to move production to Ireland will offer a major boost to the Irish industry and to Irish tourism.
Wednesday was renewed for a second season back in January and it is understood the scripts are currently being written.
Smallville creators Al Gough and Miles Millar are behind the show alongside executive producer and director Tim Burton.
Ortega is becoming a producer on Season Two.
