A new video has emerged apparently showing Conservatives in Britain partying during the height of lockdown.

The video, allegedly filmed in December 2020, was published by The Mirror newspaper and shows a Christmas party at Conservative Party headquarters during COVID restrictions.

The Mirror claims the footage shows a Christmas party for the campaign staff of Conservative House of Lords member Shawn Bailey.

The footage appears to show two people dancing to Christmas music in front of a ‘Please keep your distance’ sign before colliding with a table full of buffet food.

A voice can be heard asking if someone was filming the party, while another voice says, “as long as we don’t stream that we’re like, bending the rules”.

The Mirror identified one of the attendants as Ben Mallet, who was given an OBE on former Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s honour list.

Mr Bailey, who was also on Mr Johnson’s honours list, was also seen at the party.

It is understood this is the first time footage has emerged of one of the rule-breaking events among political parties in the UK.

The Conservative party says disciplinary action has already taken against four people.

Johnson's resignation

A recent Parliament committee report found that Mr Johnson misled the British parliament with his statements claiming all COVID-19 rules and guidance were followed by Downing Street during lockdown gatherings.

Mr Johnson resigned from Parliament ahead of the report’s publication and claimed several politicians, including Conservatives, were “determined to drive me out of Parliament”.

He said the committee "have still not produced a shred of evidence that I knowingly or recklessly misled the Commons”.
