Last week news emerged that an apartment sold for $100,471,453 (€86,550,028) at One57, a luxury Manhattan development on Manhattan's West 57th street - making it the most expensive single-family home purchased in the history of New York City. It is unknown who bought the property.
The duplex takes up the 89th and 90th floors of the building, and covers 11,000-square-feet. It has six bedrooms, seven bathrooms, two powder rooms, and views overlooking Central Park.

With a string of new luxury high-rises currently being developed on the island, it is predicted that this record will be broken several times in the new two years - the penthouse of 520 Park Avenue is expected to sell for significantly more.
The previous record was $88m (€76m) paid for a condo at 15 Central Park West almost four years ago.
