New Zealand is boldly going where no mint has gone before... creating a coin note collection of 'Star Trek' characters.
The notes are made of 5g of pure silver and feature a coloured image of the characters from 'Star Trek: The Next Generation'.
The first note features Captain Jean-Luc Picard, played by Patrick Stewart, and costs just over €34.
There is an engraved scene showing him playing his Kataan flute - made famous in the 'Star Trek: The Next Generation' episode 'The Inner Light'.
A unique number in the mintage is also printed on each coin note.
A collector’s album is included free with the first note.
Inside a protective cover, the hardcover album includes a page for each of the six notes in the collection.
Others available are Worf, William T Riker, Deanna Troi, Data and Geordi La Forge.
The album is 'Star Trek' themed, and each page includes a short biography of the character featured on the note.
The reverse of the note features the 'Star Trek' insignia and an effigy of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II, to confirm it as legal tender.
This single silver coin note will arrive inside a protective sleeve, which includes details of the note’s authenticity.
The coins can be couriered to Europe within five to eight working days.
However the New Zealand Mint says they may be subject to import duties, taxes and customs clearances which are not included in the price.
