A TV presenter for the TV news network Russia Today (RT) has resigned on-air.

Liz Wahl is based in Washington in the US. She complained on live TV about the links her station has with the Russian President, Vladimir Putin.

This resignation comes on the heels of another RT journalist, Abby Martin, who recently voiced her disagreement with certain policies of the Russian government.

In a statement, Russia Today reacted by saying the announcement by Ms. Wahl was a 'self-promotional stunt'.

"When a journalist disagrees with the editorial position of his or her organization, the usual course of action is to address those grievances with the editor, and, if they cannot be resolved, to quit like a professional" the station said.

"But when someone makes a big public show of a personal decision, it is nothing more than a self-promotional stunt" it added.
