Newstalk has received 23 nominations at this year’s IMRO Radio Awards.
The annual awards honour the very best in Irish radio broadcasting and recognise the personalities that make Irish radio great.
The awards are finally back in person after two years of virtual service – with broadcaster Dermot Whelan hosting the ceremony at Lyrath Estate, Kilkenny on October 7th.
Newstalk presenters Ciara Kelly, Kieran Cuddihy and Pat Kenny has all been nominated for the national broadcaster of the year award.
Meanwhile, Off the Ball’s Eoin Sheahan, Joe Molloy and Nathan Murphy are all nominated for the national sports broadcaster of the year.
Newstalk Breakfast, The Hard Shoulder and The Pat Kenny Show have all been nominated for the national current affairs programme of the year, while Off the Ball and OTB Live have been nominated for sports programme of the year.
Reporters Frank Greaney and Henry McKean are in the running for news reporter of the year, while Sarah Madden is in the running for short feature for her report on bitcoin.
This year’s nominees were chosen after a week of Zoom calls with over 109 judges form across the industry.
The nominees span networks and Ireland’s independently owned and run stations from north to south and east to west.
