Your next iPhone or iPad could have an even larger screen.
Apple has reportedly asked its Asian suppliers for iPhone and iPad prototypes with larger screens so it can test the new hardware, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.
The new iPad screens measure a little less than 13 inches, a huge jump from the 9.7-inch current model. The size of the iPhone screens is unknown but is said to be larger than the current 4-inch iPhone 5.
The testing suggests Apple may be about to follow the trend of offering a large range of product sizes as set by Samsung. The rival company maintained a strong lead in the smartphone market with 33.1% in this year's first quarter. Apple came in at a distant second with 17.9%.
Apple still dominates the tablet market, but its share fell from 58.1% to 39.6% between March 2013 and the previous year.
Then again, there's no guarantee you'll ever get to see one of the new devices in person. Apple has been known to test and refine its products long before they get to the production line.
