With the Coalition reeling from the latest in the Siteserv debacle, Fianna Fáil held their Ard Fheis this weekend in the RDS in Dublin.

Led by Micheál Martin, the party outlined some of their policies ahead of the General Election.

Here are some of the most important things we learned.

1. Membership overwhelmingly rejected a Fine Gael coalition

Delegates at the Fianna Fáil Ard Fheis called on the party to reject any coalition deal with Fine Gael.

A motion calling on the party to rule out such a coalition was passed by a wide margin, albeit with a small vote.

2. Martin believes compulsory health insurance will be more costly than water charges

He used his opening speech at the Ard Fheis to criticise the government's record on health.

And he says the government's plans for universal health insurance will hit the average family hard.

3. Martin believes Cowen hecklers are fascists

The Fianna Fáil leader dubbed protesters who heckled former Taoiseach Brian Cowen and called him "a scumbag" as fascists.

A video emerged online earlier in the week if the incident.

Micheál Martin says in our democracy people have a right to go about their business without such protest.

He's also called on Tánaiste Joan Burton to stand back and think again about a Commission of Investigation into the IBRC transactions.

4. The party's promising a cash bonus to help first-time buyers get on the property ladder

It's offering up to 10,000 euro for couples - and 5,000 euro for single people - to top up their deposits by 25 per cent.

Up to 80,000 people could benefit, under a new housing policy that also aims to build 150,000 homes.

5. The Fianna Fáil leader has accused the Coalition of being obsessed with trying to buy re-election

In his keynote speech to the party's Ard Fheis last night, Micheál Martin says Fine Gael and Labour are giving with one hand, but taking back twice as much with the other.

He says Sinn Féin's offer of promising everything to everyone is even worse, but that Fianna Fáil offer a choice to voters.

6. Martin wants to abolish Irish Water

In his keynote address, Mr Martin said "€180 million has been spent on setting up a company which itself does nothing but install redundant meters and issue bills. The work of fixing pipes is still being done by the same people as always – in our local authorities – and because of Irish Water, there is less money for this than before."

"Irish Water should be abolished. It has failed and it should go before it does any more damage," he added.

7. Support for the party went up a small amount in the latest opinion poll

A few hours before Mr Martin's speech, the latest opinion poll showed support for Fianna Fáil had risen one point to 19%.

In the past month support for Fine Gael and Labour has dropped two points each to 25 and 8% respectively.

Sinn Féin gained five points to 22% - recovering all of their losses a month earlier.

Independents and Others are down two to 26% - the Greens and Renua Ireland are included there on one percent each.

The RED C poll for today's Sunday Business Post was conducted on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week among 1,006 adults.

After the Ard Fheis, Mr Martin spoke to The Sunday Show here on Newstalk. You can listen back below:
