Nearly 4 million Nissan cars are being recalled across the US due to major safety problems over passenger airbags.

It's the latest in a string of safety issues to hit international car makers in the past year.

Nissan says a sensor that detects if the front passenger seat is occupied may incorrectly think an adult is a child or the seat is empty - turning off the air bag.
