A member of the government Special Action Group on Obesity says no decision has been made on banning fizzy drink machines in secondary schools.

It is reported the group has ruled out such a ban because they make too much money.

The Irish Vocational Educational Association (IVEA) says vending machines in schools are an unfortunate side-effect of cutbacks.

Consultant Endocrinologist Professor Donal O’Shea of the Irish Heart Foundation says no decision has been made.
