A special Northern Assembly will hold an emergency debate this afternoon on the controversy surrounding the British government's handling of nearly 200 IRA suspects.

Yesterday, British Prime Minister David Cameron announced a judge-led inquiry into whether letters sent to them provide them with immunity from prosecution.

It follows the collapse of the Hyde Park bombing case and a threat by the North's First Minister to resign unless an inquiry was promised.

Northern Secretary Theresa Villiers doesn't believe anyone's safe from justice - regardless of what they have received:

Sinn Féin says a review announced by the British Prime Minister David Cameron yesterday is "unnecessary".

The scheme saw letters sent to more than 180 Republican terror suspects, advising them they could return to Northern Ireland without fear of prosecution.
