A nurse accused of murdering her mother in Dublin on Christmas Eve 2010 told Gardai she pushed her hard against a wall but did not mean to kill her.

Greta Dudko of Station Court Hall, Clonsilla in Dublin claims their relationship turned sour after her mother accused her husband of cheating on her.

Gardai responding to a 999 call from Greta Dudko's husband and found Anna Butautiene's lifeless body lying on a bed in the apartment. It was Christmas Day 2010.

Ms. Dudko was arrested and admitted shoving her mother up against a wall during a fight the night before. She told Gardai she was acting in self defence and didn't mean to kill her. She claimed her mother was trying to ruin her marriage by accusing her husband of having an affair.

Vitalij Dudko, the accused's husband, told the court previously that his wife had told him the news on Christmas day: “She told me that she did something terrible. She said that she had a fight with her mother and had hit her against the wall and that, as a result, she had died. I was in complete shock," he said.

The 36-year-old Lithuanian has pleaded guilty to manslaughter but this wasn't accepted by the Director of Public Prosecutions.
It will be left to the jurors to decide whether there was intent to kill. They will resume hearing evidence on Monday.
