An oil laundering plant has been discovered in Co. Monaghan.
It has the capacity to process 2 million litres of fuel every year.
Officers from the Revenue Custom Service and local gardaí made the find today at Clontibret.
The plant represented a potential loss to the exchequer of €1 million per annum.
10,000 litres of laundered fuel, 9 bags of bleaching agent, a car and a van were all seized at the site.
Officers also discovered 8 tonnes of toxic sludge.
The discovery came as the result of a Revenue surveillance operation.
Enquiries in relation to the find are on-going.
