The Ombudsman for Children has finished a special investigation into the cases of two Roma children who were taken into care late last year.
The report of the Special Inquiry will now be considered by the Justice Minister Alan Shatter after Emily Logan was given special powers to investigate the issue.
She submitted her report following the lifting of the in-camera rule by the District Court yesterday. This determined that Minister Shatter should make a separate application for its publication.
It was completed under Section 42 of the Garda Síochána Act.
The children were taken from from two Roma families and placed in the care of the health authorities in October 2013.
However they were later returned to their parents after DNA testing.
The Minister for Justice made a Ministerial order on December 9th last, appointing Ms. Logan to carry out the inquiry.
