A 17-year-old girl and 64-year-old man have been taken to hospital with "life-threatening injuries", after suffering "serious stab wounds" at a property on the road, according to police.

Detectives arrested a man who is 22 and believed to be known to the victims.

Police are speaking to witnesses to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, but early indications suggest it is an isolated incident.

Detective Superintendent Toby Facey said the community is "rightly shocked" by the incident.

"Our thoughts remain with those affected and their loved ones at this difficult time," he said. "We are doing all we can to support them.

"We have had detectives on the ground who have been working throughout the night trying to get to the bottom of what has happened and why."
