A man has died and another man is seriously injured after a stabbing in Dublin city this morning.

Gardaí have launched an investigation after a man was stabbed to death in the centre of Dublin in the early hours of this morning.

A man who was stabbed multiple times during the incident was taken by ambulance to St James’s Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

A second man is receiving treatment for serious injuries in hospital.

It happened just off Grafton Street, one of the city's top tourist destinations.

The scene is currently being held for examination.

Investigations are ongoing.
