Some fans have travelled from England and Scotland to pay their respects – and one told Newstalk Sinéad was “one of the bravest women” he had ever known.
“I came here to pay my respects as a fellow campaigner and a fellow survivor of child sex abuse to one of the bravest women I and many other survivors and campaigners have ever known,” he said.
This woman said she had been a huge fan since she was a teenager.
“She is three years older than me so it was the first album I ever bought, The Lion and the Cobra,” she said.

One Bray local said Sinéad was loved in the town.
“I’m here because I was a fan you know. I used to see Sinéad around the town and I’ve seen her in concert a few times,” he said.
“Yeah, she was a pretty awesome girl in terms of her music – she had a voice of rock.”
The cortege will begin at the Harbour Bar end of Strand Road, passing by Sinéad’s old house before moving on to a private funeral.
